FAQs

How much do the sessions cost?

I charge £50 per one 55 min. session for individuals; £60 per one hour session for couples. £80 per one and a half hour session.

How long are the sessions? How frequent? and how many sessions will I need?

The sessions last for 55mins with the option of one and a half hours for couples.

Most clients say they value weekly sessions and the support, space and momentum this frequency provides. We can also make your appointments around existing time and financial committments.

Generally, for some clients or issues, short term or medium term work is enough to feel better but longer term therapy may be appropriate. We can discuss that with you in the first session. I will ask you about your thoughts about the number of sessions and will share with you my professional opinion. You can of course end the work at any time though once we have commited to work together I do ask for at least one session notice to round up our work so far together and say goodbye. I am experienced in short term and long term work; ranging from four sessions to several years. Many clients return to work with me when the need arises.

"What if I can't make an appointment?"

I provide a full time commitment to my practice with daytime and evening appointments. You can have the same time and place each week if desired; equally you can change your day and time from week to week to suit your other commitments. I ask you to give me 24 hours notice to cancel a session or I charge for the missed session.

About Me

I have now been in private practice for eighteen years.

Working alongside you I provide the safety, support and guidance for you to make positive changes for yourself in the here and now and where appropriate resolve issues from the past that are getting in the way of enjoying your life, your relationships, pursuing your dreams and fulfilling your potential.

In the past I have worked in finance and as a teacher and Head of Department in mainstream Secondary and College education. I now enjoy working with clients to resolve problems and improve their quality of life. I have worked in the NHS.

I have recently delivered training to teachers to improve communication in the classroom for the benefit of both teacher and students, aiding relationships and learning. I have run self esteem, communication and confidence courses to groups.

I have myself overcome personal and professional challenges. I have worked in a high pressured environment and I have had times of combining working and studying with the added responsibility of the care of others. I have changed careers successfully and supported my partner as he has faced redundancy on more than one occasion and I have both the challenges and joy of bringing up my two children. I have been closely involved in the care of my father who sadly died from a terminal illness several years ago.
I have dealt with the challenge of separation and divorce from my long term partner and subsequent house move and process of moving on.
My training and own personal therapy helped me to deal with the loss and grief , learn how to manage and change , maintain my own well being and I find that as I integrate my experiences healthily, I can use them to support my clients

I appreciate how difficult it can be embarking on therapy.
How do I find the right therapist for me?
Do I really need therapy? Am I clear enough to explain my problem?

You are not on your own if you ask some of these questions or others. In our initial session we discuss your concerns and questions and can decide if we want to work together. You can go away from that first session and get back to me without any commitment for a further session. If I feel I am not the right person for you I will share that with you. You have the option of a free 15minute telephone call or Zoom before making an initial appointment . You can have reflection time and get back to me before commiting further.
